Mohawk Valley Community College will host several make-and-take workshops that are open to the community this fall. Tickets for all workshops can be purchased online through the MVCC Box Office.
Fall 2026 Make-and-Take Workshops:
- Puff Pastry — 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, MVCC Rome Campus Kitchen. Participants will learn techniques for making light, flaky, and buttery puff pastry in this hands-on workshop. This event is sold out.
- Watercolor Bookmarks — 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, Academic Building room 161, MVCC Utica Campus. MVCC Art Instructor Andie Alban will demonstrate foundational watercolor techniques, and participants will make a bookmark to take home. Tickets are $10 general and free for MVCC students.
- Mindful Mocktails: Sip Into Fall Wellness — 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, MVCC Rome Campus Dining Hall. In this workshop led by the Mindful Mixer, participants will craft a fall-inspired apple mocktail while exploring the wellness benefits of its ingredients through all five senses. Tickets are $20 general, $15 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students.
- Fall Home Sign — 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, Wilcox Hall room 225, MVCC Utica Campus. The Thirsty Painters will demonstrate step-by-step how to make a rustic home sign for fall. Participants will choose a color, phrase, and floral decor in their creations. Tickets, which are limited, are $25 general, $20 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students.
- Mini Figure Painting — 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, Academic Building 280, MVCC Utica Campus. During this workshop, participants will get an inside look at how MVCC Art Professor Josh Piejko sculpted the College mascot Mo Hawk as a “Dungeons & Dragons”-style warrior before painting a 3D-printed mini figure to take home. Tickets are $15 general and free for MVCC students.
- Cocoa and Cards — 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, MVCC Rome Campus Dining Hall, and 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, Wilcox Hall room 225, MVCC Utica Campus. Participants will learn to create holiday-themed watercolor cards in this step-by-step workshop led by Songbyrd Street Studios. Tickets, which are limited, are $20 general and $15 for MVCC employees.
- Photogram — 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, Academic Building room 273, MVCC Utica Campus. In this workshop, led by MVCC School of Art Dean Todd Behrendt, participants will learn about the photogram process and create one to take home. Tickets are $10 general and free for MVCC students.
