This fall, Mohawk Valley Community College will host several hands-on workshops led by School of Art faculty and alumni. All workshops take place at MVCC’s Utica Campus. All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary.
Art Workshop Schedule:
- “Portrait Photography” with MVCC Professor Jerome LaLonde: 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, Academic Building room 273. Learn the fundamental steps for photographing various subjects, then apply these skills in the photography studio. Tickets, which are limited, cost $5 general, $2 for MVCC employees, and are free for MVCC students. Reserve your spot at mvcc.edu/tickets.
- “Drawing a Portrait” with MVCC Professor Jed Kimball: 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24; Academic Building room 112. Learn the foundational steps for drawing a portrait then practice those skills during the workshop. Tickets are $5 general, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students at mvcc.edu/tickets.
- “Exploring Creativity” with Bernie Freytag: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, Wilcox Hall room 225. Noted Author and Artist Bernie Freytag (MVCC Class of 1990) will discuss his artist journey and creative process before collaborating with attendees in creative explorations. Admission is free.
- “Camera Obscura Direct Print” with Todd Behrendt, Dean of MVCC’s School of Art: 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, Academic Building room 273. Learn about the camera obscura and be part of a demonstration of exposing and developing a large-scale print. Tickets are $5 general, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students at mvcc.edu/tickets.
