Mohawk Valley Community College will host Taka-Con, a convention for fans of all things “nerdy,” from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the College’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive. Admission is free.

Taka-Con, presented by MVCC’s Anime Club, will be held in both Wilcox Hall and the Alumni College Center. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., local vendors will be selling a variety of items, including pins, stickers, plushies, 3D-printed tchotchkes, and costuming and gaming accessories. Throughout the day, there will be panel discussions on such topics as Dungeons & Dragons, Japanese culture, and Pokémon. Other activities include karaoke, a Guilty Gear tournament, and a cosplay contest with prizes. The event also will feature a student drag show put on by the MVCC GSA starting at 7 p.m. in the Alumni College Center Commons. Find event updates and schedule here.
