Students in the Mohawk Valley Community College School of Art will exhibit and sell their paintings at “New Works.” The show will open with a reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at MVCC’s thINCubator, located at 326 Broad St. in Downtown Utica, and will be on view through May 1, 2024.
“New Works” features pieces created by students in Painting 1, a fine arts course that provides a comprehensive introduction to the nuanced artistry of oil painting. It emphasizes the capture of observed subjects on canvas, allowing students to explore various concepts and techniques, drawing inspiration from both historical and contemporary art styles.
The event provides MVCC Art students with a professional setting in which to show and sell their work to a public audience and gives community members a chance to purchase original artwork while supporting emerging artists.
MVCC’s School of Art offers programs in Digital Animation, Digital Media and Marketing, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Video Production, and Theater. Find more information here.
