The MVCC Cultural Series has partnered with the Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement Special Events Program to offer several lectures this fall that are free and open to the public. All lectures in this series will be held in Festine Auditorium in the Plumley Complex at MVCC’s Rome Campus, 1101 Floyd Ave. The lecture schedule is:
- “Clock Repair, A Clock Worker’s Journey,” with Tom Talbot: 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19
- “What’s Happening in Rome, N.Y.?” with Kristen Skobla, President of the Rome Chamber of Commerce: 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26
- “Henry Ford and His Famous Model T,” with Steve Grant: 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3
- “Nutrition for a Lifetime,” with Registered Dietitian Jeannie Wolcott: 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10
- “Oneida County Tourism, There’s Lots to Do!” with Sarah Foster Calero, President of the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Oneida County: 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17
- Lecture: “Origins of Horror,” with MVCC Dean of Humanities Jessica Wilkie: 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24
- “AI Will Blow Your Mind!” with MVCC’s Jeff Birt, Claire Ehrlich, and Shahida Dar: 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31
- “49th Fighter Squadron from 1941, Hamilton Field, CA, through to 1987 at Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY,” with Jim Coulthart, local aviation enthusiast and adjunct instructor at MVCC: 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7
