The Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) at Mohawk Valley Community College will host a virtual event from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, called “Competing on Values: Lead with Joy and Watch Your Team Fly,” as part of the CLE’s Disruption Dialogues, a series of half-day immersion experiences for companies to learn about innovative techniques to use in their own organizational cultures. Image of Rich Sheridan

This interactive session will feature globally known speaker Rich Sheridan, CEO and Chief Storyteller at Menlo Innovations, a successful entrepreneur and author of two best-selling books — “Joy Inc.: How We Built a Workplace People Love” and “Chief Joy Officer: How Great Leaders Elevate Human Energy and Eliminate Fear.” Learn why joy is essential to the success of your organization and how you can learn to lead with joy to unleash the potential of the people on your teams. Attendees also have the option to stay for an extra half-hour (from 11 to 11:30 a.m.) to share and digest insights with others in Virtual Affinity Rooms, led by MVCC President Dr. Randall VanWagoner.

The cost to attend is $95 per person, and group pricing is available. For more information or to register, visit https://tinyurl.com/clevalues. Zoom details will be emailed to participants closer to the event.

In this talk, Sheridan will take you on a journey of change through his own path to joy, focusing on how he had to learn to lead in a completely different way and achieved results that exceeded his wildest expectations. He will discuss some simple things we can do to get our teams off the ground and flying and will touch on what this looks like nowadays when many teams are collaborating remotely.

Sheridan doesn’t just talk about joy in the workplace, he lives it every day at Menlo, the custom software and consulting company he co-founded in 2001 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Since then, Menlo has received worldwide notice for its unique culture, including recognition by Inc. Magazine as the most joyful company in America. Menlo has also been recognized by the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility for 11 straight years and has received a lifetime achievement award for Freedom at Work from WorldBlu. People from all over the world travel to Menlo to learn how they can create a culture of joy in their own organizations.
