Mohawk Valley Community College will host a Criminal Justice Career Expo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Jorgensen Center Field House at its Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive, with local employers and exciting demonstrations by agencies from the criminal justice and emergency preparedness field.
The Criminal Justice Career Expo is designed to expose current students and community members to the numerous career possibilities within the field. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with various employers, branches of law enforcement, and MVCC faculty and alumni about specific career topics, including agency requirements, hiring processes, employment outlooks, and the academic programs leading to careers in the sector. The event will include a variety of demonstrations, including K-9s, drones, repelling, and crime scene analysis.
Participating employers and agencies include: Utica Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), AmeriCU Credit Union, New York State Police, Town Court Justice, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Legal Aid Society of Mid New York (paralegal information), Attorney and former Oneida County Public Defender, Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, Oneida County Probation Department, Oneida County Jail, Oneida County 911 Call Center, Oneida County Emergency Services, and the MVCC Criminal Justice Club.
