This January, MVCC is partnering with Jobs for the Future (JFF) to deliver a Meta Spark pilot program as part of the “fast-track” initiative for students interested in building augmented reality (AR) skills for graphic design, 3-D animation/motion graphics, digital marketing/business administration, and other academic tracks.
Students, you can get a sneak peek at the software, build your own shareable AR products, and learn how you can apply for the program at a Meta Spark Workshop, which will be held on Advising Day — from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Wilcox Hall room 225 at our Utica Campus. Register now to save your spot.
Participants should bring their personal laptops with the software already downloaded. You can find and download the software here.
MVCC-JFF partnership
This partnership between MVCC and JFF is helping to grow the market for promising technology solutions poised to generate significant social impact for workers and learners. Working with partners including Meta and others, JFF explores and showcases the potential of the metaverse including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), to connect people to opportunities for learning, work, and economic opportunity.
Overview of Meta Spark augmented reality training
Meta Spark, an augmented reality training curriculum, presents a series of in-depth training modules designed to prepare learners for careers in augmented reality. These virtual instructor-led lessons provide learners with experience creating augmented reality effects with the Meta Spark Studio, the AR design software that enables creators to build customizable AR experiences to reach viewers using Facebook and Instagram.
The curriculum offers three tiers of training, including an initial contextual grounding module for AR design basics, and subsequent modules that go deeper into design principles and practical applications of the software. The training also comes with study guide materials and practice tests for the Meta Spark professional certification exam that learners can take at the conclusion of the curriculum. Learn more here.
