The Center for Leadership Excellence at Mohawk Valley Community College is offering a virtual series of Board Leadership sessions for those looking to be more active in local organizations at a board level beginning Jan. 26 with sessions running monthly 4 to 6 p.m. through June 2022 on Zoom.
This series prepares participants for board service through an understanding of board governance, best practices of high-performing boards, and nonprofit organizational structure. It’s open to those currently serving on boards as well as those interested in pursuing a board seat.
The cost is $40 per person per session, and participants can register for one session or the entire series. Sessions include:
- Board Dynamics, Roles, and Responsibilities
- Strategic Directions
- Fiduciary Oversight
- Resource Development
- Board Building and Placement
- The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
MVCC President Randall J. VanWagoner also will facilitate fireside chats with local, seasoned community leaders who will share insights on their personal experiences with board service and the personal impact it has had on them.
“Nonprofits are the backbone of our community and board service is an excellent way for individuals to give of their time and expertise,” says Kristen Skobla, executive director of the CLE. “Board Leadership provides the knowledge you need to make your board service more rewarding and productive.”
This series was made possible through funding from the M&T Charitable/Partners Trust Charitable Fund at The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties. For more information or to register, visit clemv.org.
