Two alumni of Mohawk Valley Community College will return to their alma mater during the first week of March to give presentations as part of the Cultural Series. Admission to both events is free.
On Tuesday, March 3, Engineer Erich Luther ’16 will present the International Café and Conversation, “Experiences in Iraq,” at 2:30 p.m. in Alumni College Center room 116 at the Utica Campus. In more than 22 months as a combat medic in Iraq, Luther experienced some of the very worst of what people are capable of, along with some of the very best, and will share his experiences. He will give the same lecture at 6 p.m. the same day in Plumley Complex room 119 at the Rome Campus.
On Thursday, March 5, Forest Ecologist Collin Shephard ’03 will present the lecture “Lizards, Lumberjill Sports, and Landscape Scale Conservation: Exploring a Career and Life Adventures that all Started with a Degree from MVCC,” at 3 p.m. in Alumni College Center room 116 at the Utica Campus. Shephard will share how the STEM-based education she earned at MVCC has developed into the forest ecologist position she now holds with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. She’ll also share the personal and professional adventures she has had along the way, as well as career opportunities available with the Forest Service.
