Safe Space

Safe Space training is a four-hour workshop designed for individuals who wish to learn
more about the LGBTQ+ community and/or for those who wish to be identified as an ally
for the LGBTQ+ community at MVCC. This workshop is interactive and will frame the
role of LGBTQ+ allies on and beyond campus by introducing resources and providing
the tools needed to create a fully inclusive community. Upon completion of the four-hour
training, participants will receive a Safe Space sticker or window cling to display
in their workspace, communicating to MVCC students and employees that theirs is a
welcoming, judgment-free zone and one that students and staff should feel encouraged
to approach for support and guidance.

Grading for Equity Book Club

This semester in book club we had two groups reading Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman.
Please join our session in which we will share some of what we have learned including
how traditional grading stifles learning and is mathematically inaccurate and grading
practices that promote equity and are more mathematically accurate.

Active Shooter Training
Presenter(s): Ryan Barsuch
Dave Amico, Executive Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management has developed
this presentation that will detail a variety of potential life-threatening scenarios
and will provide us with learning exercises in practical emergency survival skills
as well as the role of law enforcement, notifications of emerging events, and definitions
of such terms as “shelter in place." This institute session will be presented by Sgt.
Ryan Barsuch.

New Contract language

If you are a PA member, learn how changes to the online language in the contract will
impact you. The AVP for Academic Affairs, PA Negotiations Chair, and PA President
will explain the differences between sole and shared development, two course priority
and other changes that impact those who teach traditional online (discounting normal
on-campus class taught as asynchronous due to COVID) or hybrid courses.
