Empowering Students Through Storytelling

Learn about how different types of storytelling and autobiographical writing can contextualize
learning, assist with memory, and help students connect with you as a teacher and
with one another. In this session, I will talk about the book I wrote over my sabbatical
this past spring as I lay out different ways storytelling can empower your students.

Beyond BERT

In October 2024, our campus launched a comprehensive review of the Behavioral Evaluation
and Response Team (BERT) to ensure alignment with current best practices and the evolving
needs of our community. Over the past eight months, the team has engaged in a deep
assessment process alongside training from national experts in the field. As a result,
BERT is transitioning to a newly envisioned Care Team with updated procedures, a more
holistic framework, and an expanded focus on proactive support and well-being. This
session will introduce the campus to the newly restructured team, outline key changes
in process and philosophy, and explore how every member of our community plays a role
in building a culture of care.
