The primary purpose of the Residence Halls is to promote an academic environment.  Guests and visitors are allowed according to the below policy:

Definitions:

Guest:  A current MVCC Non-Residence Hall student or a non-MVCC student who wishes to remain in the Residence Halls overnight.  Guest passes are required as of 8 p.m.

Visitor: A current MVCC Non-Residence Hall student who wishes to visit the Residence Halls does during the evening until no later than 11 p.m.  Visitor passes are required as of 8 p.m.

 Guest Pass: 

A resident may obtain a guest or visitor pass for up to two people at a time.  Guest Passes are available in the Bellamy Hall Office Monday – Friday between 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.  and weekends 7 – 11 p.m.  Guests are required to be 18 years of age and have a valid legal photo ID.  Guest passes are valid for up to two (2) nights. Neither a resident nor the guest may obtain additional guest passes for a period of five (5) nights.  Residents hosting guests overnight should have the permission of their roommate(s). No guests passes are allowed during the first or last week of classes or finals. Guests must carry I.D. and their guest pass at all times.

 MVCC Visitor Pass:

A resident may obtain a guest or visitor pass for us to two people at a time.  Visitors are any current MVCC students who do not reside in the MVCC Residence halls and wish to enter the Residence Halls between the hours of 8 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Visitors may check-in starting at 8 p.m. and must depart from the residence halls no later than 11:59 p.m. Visitors may obtain a visitor pass in the Bellamy Hall Office.  Visitors will show the ID to the officer at any front door and their ID will be kept at the front desk until visitor checks out.   Failure to check out by 11:59 p.m. as required will subject the host and visitor to loss of guest pass privileges.

Socializing and the entertainment of guests or visitors shall always be secondary to study. Any student who is inconvenienced by a guest or visitor, or who is aware of a continuous violation, may submit a written complaint or HawkEye Tip.

Any guest/visitor involved in policy violations or who fails to cooperate with Residence Hall or College Staff will be asked to leave immediately.  Guests/visitors unable to produce a pass will be removed from the premises. The resident is responsible for the actions of their guest/visitor(s).

A resident must not allow any person to remain in their room unattended without their roommate’s permission.

Residence Hall Student Visitation:  A Residence Hall student may not stay overnight in another Residence Hall room, nor may any Residence Hall student allow another resident(s) to stay overnight in their room more than three consecutive nights. 

Squatter Policy: A squatter is a non-resident who remains in a Residence Hall room, or various rooms, for greater than one week. Any resident(s) who allows a non-resident to be a squatter is subject to a fine equivalent to the daily room rate, as appropriate. Other sanctions may apply.
