Description: The family of Carmen G. Caruso established this scholarship to assist students in
the Culinary Arts Program at MVCC. The scholarship includes an option of a 2-week
summer internship at Café Caruso located in Utica, New York.
Amount Awarded: $250 (Less Financial Aid)
Criteria Checklist:
- Must be a Full-Time Student in the Culinary Arts Program (Baking and Pastry Arts Emphasis) who has completed two semesters or a minimum of 30 credit hours
- Must be a resident of Herkimer County, Madison County or Oneida County

Description: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize individuals who have demonstrated,
through academic achievement and through leadership in the furtherance of hospitality
education and the learning environment, dedication in the pursuit of their professional
and personal growth in the hospitality industry.
Amount Awarded: $250 for Full-time; $150 for Part-time
Criteria Checklist (Full-time):
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Must be full-time matriculated students enrolled in a hospitality degree program
- Must have completed at least 2 semesters in the hospitality programs
Criteria Checklist (Part-time):
- Must have at least a 3.25 or higher GPA
- Must have completed 50 credit hours of study in hospitality at MVCC
Students will have demonstrated community involvement in relation to the hospitality field and demonstrated intra- and extracurricular college commitments related to the advancement of the Hospitality Programs learning environments. Financial need may be considered.

Description: Established on the premise that there can be no improvement in the quality of life
without and individual effecting change, the Olive J. Spargo Scholarship has been
endowed to reward two human qualities which continually transform our world: hard
work and leadership ability.
Amount Awarded: $500
Criteria Checklist:
- Must be enrolled in MVCC’s Hospitality Program
- Must be a full-time student
- Student must be hardworking and diligent in their work and studies
- Exhibits leadership qualities in and out of the classroom
- Student must be in good standing
- Preference given to students from the City of Rome who are matriculated in the MVCC Hospitality Program.
Candidates will be reviewed based on their leadership qualities in and out of the classroom and on the diligence with which they pursue their education.
