Description: Provides a scholarship for a student who is continuing their education at Syracuse University.
Amount Awarded: Amount varies upon proof of enrollment to SU.


Criteria Checklist:

  • Must be a graduating student transferring to Syracuse University
  • Preference will be given to graduating students transferring to the Syracuse University program in illustration 
  • The scholarship will be awarded only after the student provides evidence that they are actually enrolled at Syracuse University

Description: Award to a full or part-time matriculated student in the photography program who has either graduated in the Fall term or will be graduating in the Spring term.
Amount Awarded: $500 by check

  • Must demonstrate academic excellence based on overall GPA. and grades in photography courses, by contributions in the photography program, in classes, the studio, in shows and in the labs, by community service through promise as a professional photographer

Duration: 1 Semester
Description: Maynard T. Roman was born and raised in New York Mills.  He taught classes in criminal law enforcement here at MVCC and was the golf coach at New York Mills and Notre Dame High Schools.  Maynard was truly dedicated to helping others.  One award to a graduate of Notre Dame High School and one award to a graduate of New York Mills High School. Graphic design majors will be considered second for scholarship after criminal justice major.
Amount Awarded: $500 as tuition credit
Criteria Checklist:

  • Must be planning to enroll full-time (min of 12 credit hrs.)
  • Must have a GPA of 2.75 and major in criminal justice.  Graphic design majors will be considered second. 
  • Must be a graduate of either Notre Dame High School OR
  • Must be a graduate of New York Mills High School
  • A brief essay stating why you should be considered for this scholarship is required
