Mohawk Valley Community College has expanded the number of career pathways offered as part of the Job Corps Scholars program, a grant-funded opportunity for young people to earn a career certificate at no cost in less than one year. In addition to skills training, students in Job Corps Scholars receive individualized personal and employment counseling to prepare them for placement in their chosen field.

Starting this fall, those eligible for Job Corps Scholars can choose to earn a free certificate from MVCC in 12 different career pathways:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Airframe and Powerplant Technician
  • Carpentry and Masonry
  • Chef Training
  • CNC Machinist Technology
  • Cybersecurity
  • Finance
  • HVAC
  • Law Enforcement
  • Mechatronics
  • Tractor Trailer
  • Welding

Job Corps Scholars Information Sessions

MVCC’s Job Corps Scholars program is now accepting new students for both the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, which begin on Aug. 30, 2021, and Jan. 19, 2022. The College is hosting several information sessions at the Utica Campus in Wilcox Hall room 225. Registration is encouraged and walk-ins will be accepted. To be eligible for Job Corps Scholars, a student must be 16 to 24 years old, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, first-time college enrollee or dropout, and qualify as low-income. To learn more about the program and to apply, visit www.mvcc.edu/job-corps.
