Program prepares candidates for A&P certification exams
Apr 24, 2008
Mohawk Valley Community College's Center for Community and Economic Development, in conjunction with the College's Airframe and Powerplant Technology Program, has developed a program to prepare qualified candidates to successfully complete the Federal Aviation Administration's A&P certification examinations.
This 80-hour program will begin May 12 and be held at MVCC's Aviation Training Center, located at 116 Langley Drive, on the Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome.
All applicants must have prior FAA approval to test for the Airframe, Powerplant or both as proven by two copies of the FAA 8610-2 form with original signatures.
The A&P test preparation program will focus on the specific needs of each individual student. Each student will be evaluated on their strengths and weaknesses, as it pertains to that student's certification focus. The program will prepare students for the written, practical and oral segments of the exams. Students must pass each area for the FAA certification sought. This program requires additional hours of self study.
Tuition for this program is $1,275 with an additional fee of $45 for study guides and handbook. There are additional fees for the written, oral and practical examinations, set by the Laser Grade Testing Center and the FAA Designated Mechanic Examiners. These fees are not associated with MVCC.
Enrollment is limited and will be taken on first come basis. For information or to register, contact Gloria Slade at 792-5536, between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays. All MVCC non-credit instruction is completely self-supporting, including indirect costs, and requires no public funding.
