MVCC to host ‘Colorful Girls Rock’ symposium with Yandy Smith-Harris of ‘Love and Hip Hop’

On Thursday, Nov. 16, Mohawk Valley Community College will host the event “Colorful Girls Rock” from 5 to 10 p.m. in Schafer Theater in the Information Technology Building on the Utica Campus. Reality star Yandy Smith-Harris of “Love and Hip Hop” will join local community members as they discuss stereotypes of women, women in education, and society’s perspective on women in the 21st century.

Patricia Washington, coordinator for the College in Prison New Directions program, will act as panel moderator. Panel members include:

  • Sergeant Starr Rae Wooden, Utica Police Department
  • Cassandra Harris-Lockwood, President/CEO at FOR THE GOOD, INC.
  • Khadijah Blackshear, MVCC student
  • Amea Hammonds, MVCC student
  • Kalyn Credle, MVCC Residence Director for Academic Success
  • Yandy Smith-Harris, Reality TV Star of “Love & Hip-Hop”
