MVCC Shelter-in-Place Order Lifted

At 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, the Mohawk Valley Community College Department of Public Safety received a report from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office about a potentially emotionally disturbed person on or around campus. Following emergency notification procedures, MVCC enacted shelter-in-place. With the assistance of Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Utica Police Department, the individual was located off campus, unarmed.

As a result, the campus lockdown was lifted, with no further threat. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Mohawk Valley Community College would like to thank the authorities on their diligence and incredible speed of response.
