The Mohawk Valley Community College Cultural Series and Made in Utica have teamed up for the second annual Utica Day, taking place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at MVCC’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive. Admission is $5 general, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students.

Utica Day is a celebration of everything local, with vendors, live music by Matt Lomeo, and a panel discussion by community members titled “Where Do We Go From Here?” Last year’s Utica Day was such a success that this year’s event has been moved to a bigger space on campus, the Field House in the Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic and Event Center. Utica Day begins with a vendor fair from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring local eateries, artisans, and businesses. For a complete list of vendors, visit madeinutica.com/utica-day. The panel discussion, a follow-up to the 2016 discussion “The Pulse of Utica,” will begin at 8 p.m. It features panelists Derek Crossman, City of Utica; Christina D’Amico, OB Fitness/Dance with Utica; Carrie Bostick, Observer-Dispatch; and Justin Parkinson, Made in Utica. The discussion will be moderated by Erin Higgins, also of Made in Utica.

Tickets for all Cultural Series events can be purchased in-person at the MVCC Box Office, Information Technology Building Room 106, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday, and at the Utica Campus Bookstore and the Rome Campus Student Services Center; online any time at www.mvcc.edu/tickets; or over the phone by calling 315-731-5721. Most Cultural Series events are $5 or less to the general public and many are free. Events include concerts, comedians, lectures, film screenings and discussions, workshops, family fun events, and more. The Cultural Series is brought to you by MVCC’s Cultural Events Council, in collaboration with MVCC’s Program Board, with significant support from the Student Activity Fee. The series maintains a major social media presence that can be followed on Facebook at “MVCC Cultural Series.” For the complete series lineup and ticket sales, visit www.mvcc.edu/culture.
