MVCC announces new hires, employee title changes, and promotions

Mohawk Valley Community College announces the following new appointments, employee title changes, and promotions as approved by the Board of Trustees at its meeting on Dec. 17, 2018:
- Katey Cordary, Instructor
- Christina DiSano, Assistant to the Office of Human Resources
- Matthew Fikes, Data Analytics and Visualization Specialist
- Ross Wittenberg, Instructor
Katey Cordary was appointed to the position of instructor in the Social Sciences and Public Services Department and will be teaching psychology courses in the classroom and online. Prior to this appointment, Cordary had been a term-appointed instructor at MVCC since 2017. Before joining the College, she held several positions at Morrisville State College, including professional tutor, Educational Opportunity Program summer instructor, and adjunct faculty member. She also worked as a workshop instructor, career counselor/case manager, and summer camp supervisor/counselor for Madison County Employment and Training in Oneida. Additionally, she acted as a teacher assistant in psychology courses while completing her bachelor’s degree. Cordary holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Capella University, a master’s degree in education from Alfred University, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Cortland.
Christina DiSano has joined the College as assistant to the Office of Human Resources. As such, she will provide administrative and office support and will work independently on a variety of office administrative functions, including those of a timely, sensitive, and confidential nature. She also will assist with other departmental functions, including personnel actions, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and benefits. Prior to joining the College, DiSano worked as a receptionist at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley in Ilion, acted as a human resources consultant at the Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center in Rochester as part of a project for her bachelor’s degree program, and was an assistant town clerk for the Town of Frankfort. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management and an associate degree in business administration from Herkimer College.
Matthew Fikes has been promoted to the position of data analytics and visualization specialist in the Department of Institutional Research and Analysis, and will now be responsible for assisting the departmental director with the institutional effectiveness and other assessment processes including enrollment management, post-graduation outcomes, and other analysis. Fikes has been with the College since 2010, first as a senior office specialist and then as a technical assistant in the Department of Institutional Research and Analysis. Prior to these positions, he was a digital lab assistant at Fraternal Composite Services, Inc., and a call representative at ACS Educational Services. Fikes holds a bachelor’s degree in studio arts from SUNY Oswego.
Ross Wittenberg was appointed to the position of instructor in the Business, Cybersecurity, and Computer Sciences Department and will be teaching business and accounting courses in the classroom and online. Previously, Wittenberg worked as a business education teacher at Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas, and Oak Ridge High School in Conroe, Texas. He also worked as a teacher and research assistant at the University of Texas at Austin. While he was completing his degrees, he spent time in Washington, D.C., as a supplemental instructor leader and tutor at American University and a consultant in Forensic Accounting and Advisory Services at FTI Consulting. He also acted as a teaching assistant at American University following completion of his degrees. Wittenberg holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, both from American University.
