Famed National Geographic Photographer to Speak Aug. 14
Aug 8, 2012
Award-winning photographer and speaker Steve Uzzell will give a free, public lecture at Mohawk Valley Community College’s Utica campus on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 9:30 a.m., in the IT Theater. In his presentation, titled “Open Roads Open Minds: An Exploration of Creative Problem Solving,” Uzzell will speak about what he has learned about imagination and creativity in more than 40 years as a world-traveling photo artist. He will speak before the backdrop of his breathtaking and powerful photos.
Uzzell, who has traveled all 50 states and more than 30 countries in search of his images, is a member of National Geographic’s photographic staff and has been published in two books and more than 100 publications. In his public speaking, he addresses how “the open road never fails to open your mind. Once your mind is open, the power of your imagination is released. This formidable power knows no bounds,” in his words.
Using examples from his photographic career, Uzzell will illustrate themes of possibility and creativity, inspiring audiences to make any venture an adventure. He teaches listeners to put perspective to work everyday – in problem solving, the creative process, and in life. Uzzell’s approach to his photographic work serves as a universal blueprint for problem solving.
The presentation is made possible through MVCC’s nationally recognized professional development and employee enrichment program.
