Support for Students
There are over 25 offices and programs at MVCC to support students as they work toward their goals! Here are some that families inquire about most often:
The Counseling Center serves to assist students in the often difficult transition to college, as well as to help them navigate the path to personal and academic success. All services are free, confidential, and available on both the Utica and Rome campuses.
The Health Center provides basic first aid, health assessments, referrals for additional treatment, and wellness programming/counseling to help students and staff maintain a healthy lifestyle. There is a RN on staff who sees students daily and an independent physician who sees students once a week.
Living on-campus allows students to have the full college experience within a vibrant campus and community. Residential students are close to campus services and receive additional academic supports in the residence halls.
The Learning Commons provides free tutoring services for MVCC students to help them achieve academic success and become independent, self-confident, and efficient learners. Students may receive support for most classes on the Utica or Rome campus, provided by experienced peer and professional tutors seven days a week.
The Office of Accessibility Resources formally known as the Disability Services Office is responsible for assistance campus-wide for students with physical, emotional and/or learning disabilities.
The Department of Public Safety’s mission is to serve and protect the students, staff and faculty of Mohawk Valley Community College. They are staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and provide services ranging from criminal investigations to motor vehicle lockout to vehicle registration for on-campus parking.
