Howard Potter, Class of 2010
Co-Owner and CEO of A&P Master Images, LLC.
Howard Potter is co-owner and CEO of A&P Master Images, LLC, with his wife, Amanda Potter. The company, which has been in business for 15 years, offers graphic design, screen printing, embroidery, sublimation, vinyl graphics, and promotional items, and has won seven national awards in the industry, including the “Top Shop” award and the New York State U.S. Small Business Award.
Potter knew early on that he was interested in art and business while attending Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica, N.Y., and living at The House of the Good Shepard, a group home for children. While at Proctor, Potter took classes in design and marketing, and attended BOCES for graphic design during his junior and senior year. He was also able to start his associate degree in graphic design at MVCC while still a high school student. While attending MVCC, he lost his job and was unable to finish his degree due to financial stresses. After getting back on his feet, getting married to his wife, Amanda, having two children (Angelena and Ayden), and starting his business, A&P Master Images, MVCC reached out and offered him life credits for his last semester so that he could graduate.
Potter is on the advisory board for Stitches and Wearables magazines. A&P’s work has been on the cover of national magazines and published in 50 magazines for the industry. The company has also earned awards for the internship opportunities it offers to local students. Potter and his family reside in Utica, N.Y.
