MVCC’s Center for Corporate and Community Education announces registration is open for the fall schedule of cooking classes. For those seeking to try their talent in creating various ethnic foods both healthy and delicious, MVCC offers something for everyone!
Hand Rolled Sushi Making
Learn how to roll healthy and tasty fresh-made sushi and impress your friends and family by making sushi at home or for parties and events! This hands-on class will give you the basics on making sushi, and once you learn the basics, the possibilities are endless! You’ll learn about all of the possible ingredients, techniques, and extra touches to make your sushi rolls unique and delicious! This class will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m.-Noon on the Rome campus. Cost is $29
Celebrate the bounty of the autumn harvest and array of fall flavors with these hearty but healthy recipes. In this hands-on class, everyone will work together to prepare a menu that will utilize the season’s best ingredients. Recipes include a squash and apple soup and beet and goat cheese parfait! You will create a fall feast that will satisfy any appetite! Please bring a knife and food container. This class will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Perry Jr High School in New Hartford. Cost is $49.
Cooking with Diabetes
Everyone knows what they SHOULD be doing. Let’s learn how to do it! This hands-on class will help you to set up your kitchen to be ready when hunger strikes. Make delicious recipes simply, quickly, and economically. Diabetes is out of control in this country. Many may be pre-diabetic and don’t know it. This class is for everyone wishing to develop a healthy lifestyle. Demos, group participation, printouts and discussion. Bring containers to bring food home with you. This class will take place over 3 Saturdays, from Oct. 6 until Oct. 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Perry Jr High School in New Hartford. The cost is $79.
Creative Cupcakes by Kathryn
Cupcakes are so fun to make, and very trendy right now! In this beginner class, you will learn how to take a basic box mix and frosting recipe to new levels. Create your own flavor combinations using everyday ingredients and learn simple ways to finish your cupcakes that make a big impact. We will cover basic frosting techniques and easy ways to decorate, including using store bought candies and simple gum paste cut-outs, edible decorations, and plenty of sprinkles & sparkles! Participants will bake, frost, and decorate their own cupcakes to take home. Impress the guests at your next celebration using these simple but elegant techniques! This class will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Perry Jr High School in New Hartford. The cost is $29.
