MVCC to Offer SAT Prep Classes for the May Test

Students that are planning on taking the SAT test in May, Mohawk Valley Community College’s Center for Corporate and Community Education is here with a 9-hour review class, a new 5-hour“quick prep” class, and one-night workshops to help prepare.

The SAT Review class will teach students how to approach each section of the test; how to understand what is being asked; and how to answer correctly with confidence.  This course addresses all sections of the test including reading comprehension, vocabulary, math, and essay writing.  Included is the book, “10 Real SATs.”  The class will be offered Tuesday and Thursday, April 16-25, 6:00-8:15 p.m. on the Utica campus.  The cost is $79.

The new Quick Prep class will help students sharpen their skills and test-readiness in just two sessions and get real SAT practice, question analysis, answering tactics, and study plans for math, reading, vocabulary, written expression, and essay writing – in less time. The class will be offered Monday, April 15-22, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. on the Rome campus and Saturday, April 20-27, from 9:00-11:30 a.m. on the Utica campus.  The cost is $49.

Workshops in vocabulary, math, and reading and writing will also be offered as intensive one-night sessions.  Vocabulary workshops take place Monday, April 29 in Rome and Wednesday, May 1 in Utica. Math workshops take place Wednesday, April 24 in Rome and Tuesday, April 30 in Utica.  Reading and Writing workshops take place Wednesday, April 17 in Rome and Thursday, May 2 in Utica.  All workshops will run from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at a cost of $29.

Enrollment is limited and will be taken on a first come basis. All MVCC non-credit instruction is completely self-supporting, including indirect costs, and requires no public funding.
