"I worked a full-time job and a part-time job while attending college, and with that came much sacrifice, but I have something no one can ever take away from me. I have a college education!"
A chance meeting can change your life.
For me, that meeting came one day when a representative from MVCC decided to visit my workplace and talk to anyone who was interested in attending college. At first I walked by without stopping, but something drew me to the table. So, I sat down and spoke with Janet Visalli about becoming a returning adult student. My first thought? “I’m too old to go back to college.” She changed my perception rather quickly, and so began my journey with MVCC in the Fall of 2006 when I began my first class.
Fast forward to December of 2009, the night of commencement when I walked across the stage and became a college graduate. It was by far, the best day of my life. It was the most rewarding experience for me. That evening concluded a three year journey for me. That journey has taken me through many challenges, and self growth. I even had the chance to travel to Italy with the Study Abroad program! I have met some great professors, and teachers, and made some friendships along the way that will continue long after my studies have ended.
So, to all those people out there who are thinking they can’t do it… YOU CAN! I worked a full time job and a part time job, and with that came much sacrifice, but I have something no one can ever take away from me. I have a college education!
Thank you staff, professors, and advisors for all you have done to enrich my life!
