Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a federally–funded, four–year academic enrichment program designed to prepare high school students for entry into college. The mission of Upward Bound is to help students build the skills necessary to enter college, pursue a degree and graduate successfully. Eligible students must be Proctor High School ninth or tenth graders, must be first generation (that is, their parents did not graduate from college), are eligible for free/reduced lunch, and have a 2.5 or higher GPA. Activities include tutoring, college visits, computer software training, career exploration workshops, mentoring, college application assistance, and social events. Students are paid a stipend for their participation in this program, and may also be eligible for paid summer employment through a partnership with the Workforce Investment Board. Interested students may apply for the program by contacting their guidance counselors or by calling the Upward Bound office.
