MV College Connections
MVCC offers opportunities for high school students to receive college credit as part–time college students. Through College Connection, high school students who are recommended to do so by their guidance counselors may take courses on the college campus nearest their high school. Guidance Counselors work closely with the Director of College Connection Programs to select courses that are highly transferable to the college of choice and that fulfill high school requirements. High school students who reside in Oneida County may qualify for full tuition scholarships, with only minimal fees and book purchases to be covered by the students.
Alternatively, high school juniors and seniors may enroll in college courses that are offered right in their high schools. These dual credit courses allow students the convenience of gaining college credit without leaving the high school environment. Instructors of dual credit courses are high school teachers who are highly qualified and whose credentials are identical to those of adjunct instructors who teach on campus. The course content of dual credit courses is the same as that of courses offered on campus. Dual credit courses are tuition free for Oneida County residents. Dual credit course offerings vary by high school; therefore, interested students should consult their guidance counselor to help them select those courses that will fulfill high school requirements while providing preparation for college.
