Head Coach: Bob Allison
Bob Allison took over the Women’s Basketball program in 2002. Coach Allison spent five years as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach before moving over to the women’s program. Coach Allison’s Teams have compiled a record of 158–11 during his first five seasons. He has been named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year each of his first five seasons. He has been named Coach of the Year in Region III in 2004 and in 2007. In 2007 he was also named NYSBCA and WBCA National Coach of the Year. He has guided the Hawks to the National Final Four in 4 of his first 5 years as Head Coach. The past 2 seasons he has guided the Hawks into the Ntional Championship game and back to back National Runner-up finishes. Under his direction the hawks come into the 2007–2008 season riding an 84 gmae regular season win streak, a 43 game home unbeaten streak, 3 straight Region 3 titles and 4 straight Mountain Valley Conference Titles. Coach Allison has also directed the Women’s Softball program at MVCC since 2001. Last season the Hawks lost the Region III Title Game. Coach Allison was also one of the founders of the Utica Lady Knicks AAU organization and coached 11 and 12 year olds for 4 years.
A New Jersey native, Bob moved to Windham N.Y. and became a three–sport star for Windham–Ashland–Jewitt High School. Bob enrolled at Columbia–Greene Community College and became a starter on the men’s basketball team. In the 1994–95 season, he led the team to a #4 National ranking and a #1 regional ranking. After graduating with honors from CGCC, Bob attended SUNY Utica–Rome, where he continued to excel as a rare three–sport collegiate athlete in baseball, basketball, and soccer. Coach Allison resides in Utica with his wife Mandy and daughters Mackenzie and Kyrah.
Assistant Coach: Tom Torchia
Coach torchia enters his fourth
year with the Hawks. He has also coached many youth sports teams in the
Utica area, and is a veteran of local recreational leagues. A one–time member
of the Hawks Athletic department, he is a strong supporter of basketball
in the Mohawk Valley.
Assistant Coach: Mike Fanelli
Coach Fanelli returns for a fourth season with the Hawks’ program. In his three years as an assistant coach, the Hawks have compiled 99 wins and only 4 losses on their way to three straight regional championships and 2 straight national championship game appearances. Coach Fanelli does much of the teams scouting, which directly impacts the team’s game preparation. His other duties include practice planning and recruiting. Coach Fanelli has also served as an assistant coach for the past two years with the Empire State games Central Open team where he helped to coach numerous scholarship athletes.
