Placement Test Scores and Course Placement
Compass Reading
- 70 or above = Ready for College level work (ED110 Reading Techniques for 2 credits is recommended to increase college reading effectiveness)
- 56-69 = DS090 Academic Reading is required (co-req is SO101 Intro Sociology)
- 55 or below = DS051 Essential Reading and Study Skills is required (co-req is ED112 Critical Reasoning)
Writing Placement
- 5 = EN101 English I: Composition or EN110 Oral and Written Communication
- 4 = ESL Testing and Advisement Required
- 3 = EN099 Introduction to College English
Compass Math
Pre-algebra score only appears = MA050 Intro Math or 045 Basic Math Skills is required.
- Algebra 26 or above = MA 105 Tech Math (For students in appropriate tech programs)
- Algebra below 40 = MA050 Intro Math or 045 Basic Math Skills is required.
- Algebra 40 or above = MA108 Math Concepts, MA110 Statistics, MA115 Intermediate Math or MA171 Foundations of Math 1
- Algebra 60 or above = MA131 Finite Math
- College Algebra 30 or above = MA121 Fundamentals of College Math I, MA 125 College Algebra and Trig, or MA139 College Algebra
- College Trig 30 or above to 44 = MA150 Pre-Calculus
- College Trig 45 or above = Calculus I
