Admission Requirements
Complete International Application
An International Student is a student who is a citizen of a country other than the United States of America whom does not hold permanent residence or a valid green card within the US. If you are an International student who wishes to come to the United States in order to complete a college degree you will be required to complete the International Application. Once the International Application is complete the International Admissions Office will issue the form I-20 to the eligible student. Following receipt of the Form I-20 the student will need to apply and obtain an F-1 student visa from the American Embassy in your home country. Students to whom this applies should fill out the International Student application. If you have any additional questions please contact rcooper@mvcc.edu.
If you are in the U.S. on an F-1 visa at another school or college.
If you are currently in the U.S. as an F-1 student already, and have maintained status you are still required to submit the international application form. Once the application is complete the transfer process will then take place. You will be required to submit additional proof that you have maintained your F-1 status.
If you are in the U.S. and are in Violation of your student status:
If you are currently in the U.S. and are in violation of your F-1 student status you might have to apply for a Reinstatement. You will have to complete the International Application Form and submit all necessary documentation to the International Admissions Office. Once your application is complete and you are accepted as an International Student the International Admissions Counselor will help you apply for Reinstatement.
If you have a different Visa type.
Students with different Visa types and already residing in the United States may not be required to change to an F-1 Student Visa. Students in this situation should contact the International Admissions Counselor regarding their specific situation. In this situation, parts of the International Student Application may not be required to be submitted.

Official High School Certification
In order to qualify for admission to Mohawk Valley Community College you are required to show proof of your completion of high school or its equivalent in your home country. You should be prepared to submit official documents showing proof of High School Completion. These documents must be in English and in their original format. If you have also completed studies past high school or its equivalent please submit all official documents.

English Proficiency Report
The English Proficiency Report is designed to be completed by an official at your current or past school. The form should be completed and mailed to the International Admissions Office. The student is required to complete part 1 of this document and the institution or school should complete part 2 of this form.
If you have taken the TOEFL exam please sent your results to the MVCC International Admissions Office.
Financial Sponsor and Verification Forms
International Students who are seeking admission and a Form I-20 are required to complete the Financial Sponsor Form and show sufficient proof of funding prior to admission at Mohawk Valley Community College. This form should be completed by the student as well as the financial sponsor. The International Application will not be considered complete until the International Admissions Office receives proof of financial sponsorship.
Official Bank Documents
This document should come directly from the Financial Sponsor's Bank. The document should be in the English language showing the appropriate funding in the sponsor's account. Please send this form directly to the International Admissions Office.
No photocopies or faxed documents will be accepted.
Health Immunization Records
The MVCC health office requires proof of the student immunization records in order to comply with New York State regulations. Please take the health form to the appropriate health care professional in your area to complete.
