Information about the room selection process

NEXT YEAR HOUSING: ROOM SELECTION PROCESS INFORMATION:

All returning students who wish to live in the Residence Halls for the 2016-2017 academic year are invited to participate in an event called the Room Selection Process.

How Does The Room Selection Process Work?
Any current student who wishes to live in the Residence Halls next year may participate in this process. There are several options for students, for example, choosing a full or partial Bellamy Hall suite with other students of their choice, choosing a room in North or South Halls with a roommate of their choice or even selecting a room with a Residence Life assigned roommate. Students may also participate in the process to request a single room.  Each participant is randomly assigned a computer generated number.  This number identifies what order the student, with their selected roommate(s), will choose their room.

Does Everyone Get a Room?
While we do need to save 1/2 of our 500 beds for incoming students, we are glad to report that this typically allows us to accommodate interested 2nd year students who meet the deadline.

Do students need a specific GPA to return to the Residence Halls?
All students must meet the Academic Eligibility Policy. This policy can be found at www.mvcc.edu – click on Current Students > Student Affairs > Housing > Academic Eligibility Requirements.

How To Participate:

  1. Students may pick up their Room Selection Process Information Packet in the Bellamy Hall Office or the Residence Life Office, ACC 208 – available now.
  2. All registration forms must be returned to Auxiliary Services no later than 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6th.
    • Deposit: A $100.00 Security/Damage deposit for the 2016-2017 academic year is required with the registration form.
    • Deposit Extension: Students requesting an extension to pay the deposit may contact the Residence Life Office in the Alumni College Center Room 208.

      All registration forms must be approved by a staff member prior to submitting them to Auxiliary Services.
       
  3. Students are invited to witness the LIVE number drawing on Wednesday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellamy Hall Multipurpose Room.  Numbers will also be posted that day.
  4. Actual Room Selection will occur on April 20th and 21st.
