Continuing Degree-Seeking Students

All matriculated students should consult with an advisor to plan their courses and check prerequisites before registering. Students should also make sure they have no holds on their account that would prevent them from registering.

 1. Schedule Online with SIRS

All students should obtain a personal information number (PIN) for access to the Student Information and Registration System (SIRS). Registration, billing, and posting of grades are all done through SIRS.

  2. Log in to SIRS  banner.mvcc.edu/
  3. From the Main Menu go to the Registration Menu
  4. Go to Build Your Schedule or Add/Drop Classes
  5. Select a Term and click SUBMIT
  6. Enter CRNs and click SUBMIT
  7. Return to Registration Menu and choose Concise Student Schedule
  8. Review schedule for accuracy and print schedule
  9. Return to Main Menu and choose VIEW MY BILL, PAY MY BILL, CONFIRM MY CHARGES
  10. Select appropriate payment option and click Confirm Charges

2. Schedule In Person

  1. In Utica: Office of Records and Registration, 159A Payne Hall
  2. In Rome: Student Services Office, 117 Plumley Complex

3. Schedule by Fax or Mail

  1. Look up courses and note their CRNs (course reference numbers) www.mvcc.edu/course-search
  2. Print out a Course Selection Form  www.mvcc.edu/registrar/course-selection-form
  3. Fax completed form to 315-792-5698 or mail to:

    Utica NY 13501
  4. Confirm and pay charges in SIRS or contact the Business Office at 315-792-5475

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students may take credit courses without pursuing a degree or certificate from MVCC for personal growth, job advancement or to transfer the credit to another college. Please note that "nonmatriculated" students are not eligible for financial aid.

All students are encouraged to obtain a personal information number (PIN) for access to the Student Information and Registration System (SIRS). Registration, billing and posting of grades are all done through SIRS.

First-time nonmatriculated students (not in a degree or a certificate program) must complete the Nonmatriculated Enrollment Form
before making a schedule. Your PIN will be emailed to you within about 24 hours after you submit this form.

If you have already completed an application and simply need to reactivate or reset your PIN, please go to PIN Request

Online Students

Please schedule your classes according the the above instructions whether you are matriculated (degree-seeking) or nonmatriculated (non degree-seeking.)

Priority Registration

Priority Registration allows students with the most credit-hours the first opportunity to register online for their courses for the following semester. The order of Priority registration is determined by the total number of credits earned at MVCC. Only matriculated students (those in a degree or certificate program) are assigned a Priority Registration time slot.

Notification of assigned priority date and time is sent by MVCC email. Open registration for all students begins at the end of the Priority Registration period.
