Pamela Fess is in her seventh year at Mohawk Valley Community College and is currently the Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health.  Under her leadership, Fess administers four accredited programs including Nursing, Respiratory Care, Radiologic Technology and Health Information Technology.  She values the rigorous standards of accreditation and directs faculty and staff with ongoing efforts at maintaining and improving excellence in each of these programs.  In addition, Fess manages the operation of several other health care career programs and certificates including Medical Assisting, Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic, Medical Assisting, Surgical Technician and Medical Coding and Billing.  Holding the rank of Associate Professor, Fess is responsible for the curriculum development and faculty for all degree and certificate programs.

Fess is Nationally Certified in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine.  She holds instructor status for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Health Association and has served as the Vice President for the Council of Associate Degree Nursing in New York State as well as President for the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). 

Fess has been the recipient of numerous awards during her career including the 1994 Faxton Hospital award for Excellent Clinical Performance as a Clinician, the Mohawk Valley Community College 2001 Adjunct Teacher award, the MVCC 2009 Disabilities Service Recognition Award as well as the 2012 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service. 

A graduate of Clinton High School, Fess began her post-secondary education at Mohawk Valley Community College and completed her B.S. at SUNY IT Utica/Rome and her M.S. at Regis University, Denver Colorado. She has worked for over 25 years in acute care, primarily as a Critical Care Educator.

Faculty Office Hours

Please email or call your assigned nursing faculty advisor for their current office hours or call 315.792.5375.  The list of assigned advisors is in the Nursing Student Handbook.  If the faculty member teaches on campus they will have their office hours posted on their office door.

Faculty do not have office hours over the winter break or if their classes are not in session, i.e. during the summer.
