MVCC men’s basketball team to play Fort Drum team to benefit Wound Warrior Project

Oct 7, 2013 - The Mohawk Valley Community College men’s basketball team will be kicking off the 2013-14 season by hosting a pre-season exhibition game against the Fort Drum Warriors. The MVCC Hawks will square off against the men’s team from Fort Drum on Friday, October 18, in the Jorgensen Athletic and Events Center’s performance gymnasium at 7 p.m.

MVCC Shines the Light on Domestic Violence

Oct 2, 2013 - The Mohawk Valley Community College Healthy Lifestyles Committee recently announced that the College’s Utica Campus is participating in this year’s “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” campaign. For the month of October, the Payne Hall building exterior lights will be tinted purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The lighting began at sundown on Oct. 1.

Utica GEAR UP Celebrates National GEAR UP Week with a GO Evergreen Park Groundbreaking on Sept. 23

Aug 28, 2013 - Utica GEAR UP has announced its kick-off celebration of National GEAR UP Week 2013. The local effort, housed at Mohawk Valley Community College, will celebrate the continuing success of Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), a college access program providing students and families the support and resources they need for college success, with a GO Evergreen Park groundbreaking ceremony. Since its inception in 1999, GEAR UP has improved educational outcomes for millions of low-income, minority and disadvantaged students across the United States, including approximately 750 Utica GEAR UP students.

MVCC appoints David Amico to lead Public Safety and Emergency Management

Jul 9, 2013 - Mohawk Valley Community College has appointed David J. Amico ’83 as Executive Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management. Amico will join MVCC’s Department of Public Safety starting July 8 subject to ratification of his appointment by the Board of Trustees.
