MVCC to host firefighter workshops, presentation

As part of Public Safety Month, Mohawk Valley Community College will host a series of professional development workshops for firefighters and an evening presentation highlighting the career of Deputy Chief Vincent Dunn’s FDNY (Ret.) on Tuesday, April 17, on the Utica campus.

The firefighter workshops will include a high-rise building firefighting at 1 p.m., the dangers of operating on a peaked roof at 2 p.m., and terrorism and security devices at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served at 4:30 p.m. The cost for the workshops and dinner is $30. The presentation, “Life in the Fire Service,” will take place at 6 p.m. in the MVCC Theater, Information Technology Building. Dunn was a firefighter in New York City for 42 years. An editor and author on the subject, Dunn is also a nationally recognized expert on high-rise firefighting, rescue, and building collapse. His presentation is free and open to the public.
