Mohawk Valley Community College student Mia DeGironimo was selected to receive the President’s Transfer Scholarship to the University of Maryland in the amount of $10,000 over two years. This competitive scholarship is Maryland’s highest honor to transfer students.
DeGironimo is a graduate of New Hartford High School and native of New Hartford. While attending MVCC, she has captained the women’s soccer team, which she helped to win the national title this season. DeGironimo was named tournament MVP. She has also been named a SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar Athlete, which recognizes a combination of academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement.
DeGironimo is a sophomore pursuing a Liberal Arts & Science degree in General Studies and has landed a spot on the president’s list every semester at MVCC. She is also an officer of the 5-star Phi Theta Kappa honor society chapter, an officer team that was named the Most Distinguished Officer Team in New York State 2013.
Upon transferring to the University of Maryland, DeGironimo plans on pursuing a major in Kinesiology.
