MVCC men’s basketball team to play Fort Drum team to benefit Wound Warrior Project
Oct 7, 2013
The Mohawk Valley Community College men’s basketball team will be kicking off the 2013-14 season by hosting a pre-season exhibition game against the Fort Drum Warriors. The MVCC Hawks will square off against the men’s team from Fort Drum on Friday, October 18, in the Jorgensen Athletic and Events Center’s performance gymnasium at 7 p.m.
Billed as the “Hoops for the Troops,” this event is to help raise awareness of programs, which provide assistance for American military personnel who are wounded while serving overseas. All proceeds from this charity event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs and services for wounded veterans.
Prior to the men’s game, the MVCC women’s squad will take on the “Slush Ducks,” the MVCC co-ed faculty and staff team, at 5 p.m. This is the third year for this fundraising charity event.
Tickets are $5 general admission and $1 for MVCC students with refreshments being sold.
