UTICA – MVCC is holding its Junior Firefighter Camp Monday – Friday, June 25 – 29, at MVCC’s Utica Campus and the Utica Fire Academy and Training Facility on Leland Avenue.
The camp is a joint venture between MVCC, the Oneida County Fire Chiefs Association and the Utica Fire Department. The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 16 and 17, and provides classroom and practical training to further participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in firefighting and emergency operations.
On Wednesday, June 27, and Thursday, June 28, students will be utilizing the Utica Fire Department Training Facility on Leland Avenue from 1-4 p.m. Areas to be covered include engine company skills, controlling and advancing handlines, ladder skills, forcible entry, aerial climb, and more.
On Friday, June 29, a graduation ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. in the IT Theater on the Utica campus of MVCC.
