MVCC hosts ‘Meet the Candidates’

Students in Mohawk Valley Community College’s Public Policy program are hosting a “Meet the Candidates” event on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. in the MV Commons in the Alumni College Center on the Utica Campus. This event is free and open to the public.

The forum is meant to encourage young adults to participate in the electoral process by allowing them the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about the offices they are seeking and where they stand on issues. MVCC’s Public Policy students will provide a basic job description of the candidates, who will then be introduced and given a limited time to talk about their qualifications.

Political officials who will be in attendance include:

  • Congressional Candidate Dan Lamb, who is contesting Richard Hanna for the 22nd Congressional District seat
  • New York State Senator Joseph A. Griffo, 47th Senate District
  • New York State Senator David J. Valesky, 49th Senate District
  • New York State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, 116th Assembly District
  • New York State Assemblyman William Magee, 121st Assembly District
  • Assembly candidate Levi Spires, who is contesting Magee for the 121st Assembly District seat
  • New York State Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, 115th Assembly District
  • New York State Assemblyman Marc Butler, 117th Assembly District
