Four soccer players named All-Conference

On the heels of the Mohawk Valley Community College women’s soccer team wrapping up the regular season with a 16-1-1 record and ranked fourth in the national by the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Hawks were honored with four players being named to the 2012 All-Mountain Valley Conference team.

Meghan Carlo (Rome/Oriskany High School) was named Player of the Year for the Mountain Valley Conference as this freshman striker scored 26 goals and assisted on nine others.

Also making the All-Conference team from MVCC was sophomore midfielder Samantha Getman (Whitesboro/Whitesboro High School) who has scored 22 goals along with 11 assists. She was joined by sophomore midfielder Meghan Gaffney (Sauquoit/Sauquoit Valley Central School). Gaffney has scored 16 times this season while assisting on nine other goals

Rounding out the top MVCC players is freshman defender Brittany McGraw-Wixson (Clay/Cicero-North Syracuse High School) who also has two goals.

In the Hawks’ 18 games, they have scored 89 goals for a 4.9 goals per game average.
