Mohawk Valley Community College will host its Fifth Annual Holiday Blood Drive on Thursday, December 6, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Alumni College Center, Room 116, on the Utica Campus located at 1101 Sherman Drive. This blood drive is being held with the American Red Cross.
Hurricane Sandy recently forced the cancellation of almost 380 American Red Cross blood drives in 13 states and the District of Columbia, resulting in a shortfall of more than 12,800 units of blood and platelets.
The Red Cross must hold nearly 600 blood drives each day across the U.S. to meet patient needs. When disaster disrupts this schedule, the American Red Cross must immediately make plans to replenish the supply.
“The holiday season is a time for giving so why not think about giving the ultimate gift of life?” said Marie Kohl, Coordinator of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at MVCC. Walk-ins are welcome but participants can also make an appointment by calling the MVCC Alumni Office at 792-5340 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Adds Kohl, “Please get in the spirit of giving by donating blood on December 6 at MVCC.”
