Armstrong ’92 Named MVCC Rome Campus Dean and Associate Vice President of Workforce Development
Franca Armstrong ’92 has been named Dean of the Rome Campus and Associate Vice President of Workforce Development at Mohawk Valley Community College. MVCC’s Board of Trustees approved the appointment at their June 9 meeting.
In this position, Armstrong will lead the Rome campus’ daily operations and will provide leadership as a member of the President’s Cabinet to assure consistent implementation of College policies and procedures. She will further develop and nurture MVCC’s “one-college, multi-campus” organizational culture.
“In her 14 years with MVCC, Franca has proven an able and energetic leader, making significant strides in bringing together the College’s and community’s workforce development and economic development efforts,” says MVCC President Randall J. VanWagoner, Ph.D. “I am confident that she will have a similar, positive impact on the Rome Campus and that her leadership will continue to help students and employers from across Oneida County.”
As dean, Armstrong will lead and implement strategic grant-funded programs, and collaborate across MVCC in developing and supporting the College’s budget, academic programs, student services, facilities, and campus safety.
Prior to this appointment, Armstrong has been with MVCC in a variety of capacities since 2000. She started as a coordinator in Continuing and Adult Education, and then moved to the position of executive director of the Center for Corporate and Community Education. Most recently, she held the title of executive director for Community and Workforce Development.
Armstrong holds a master’s degree in educational administration and policy studies from SUNY Albany, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Utica College, and an associate degree in liberal arts from MVCC.
