Utica Campus

Academic Building

The Academic Building houses most classrooms on the Utica Campus, as well as:

  • Computer Labs
  • Fine Arts Studios
  • Nursing Labs
  • Respiratory Care Labs
  • Biology Labs

  • Learning Center
  • Corporate/Community Education
  • Distance Learning

Alumni College Center

The Alumni College Center contains the:

  • Bookstore
  • Campus Dining Facilities
  • Health Center
  • Student Congress
  • Student Activities

Information Technology Building

The Information Technology Building, opened in 2002, includes a 350-seat theater (expandable to 500 persons). It is wheelchair accessible and offers headsets for the hearing impaired. The 58-foot high proscenium features a hydraulic orchestra lift and computer-operated lights and sound. The facility hosts college and community events.

The building also houses a 120-seat lecture hall with internet connections; a number of "smart" class-rooms, computer laboratories, and the BlueCross BlueShield Conference & Training Center. An art gallery is located on the second floor.

Jorgensen Athletic and Events Center

The Jorgensen Center houses a main gymnasium and field house that serve as instructional facilities for physical education classes and team practices. The center also houses:

  • An indoor track and athletic courts
  • Fitness center with free weights, aerobic and Nautilus equipment
  • Swimming pool
  • Handball and racquetball courts
  • Outdoor tennis courts, all-weather track, soccer and softball fields

Payne Hall

Payne Hall houses a comprehensive Student Services Center, including:

  • Admissions
  • Advisement
  • Business Office
  • Counseling
  • Disability Services
  • Financial Aid
  • Library
  • Registar's Office
  • Help Desk

Many faculty members and administrators also have their offices in Payne Hall.

Residence Halls

MVCC operates three residence hall complexes on the Utica Campus, housing approximately 500 students total. Our freshman students are in "quads" in North Halls and South Halls. Each quad houses between seven to nine students in double or triple rooms. There are common lounges on each floor, a study lounge, laundry facility and microwave ovens in each building. Bellamy Hall was designed especially for returning students and boasts 5 students per suite with a shared bathroom and common gathering area. A game room, laundry facilities and a microwave oven are also available in Bellamy Hall. There are no Residence Halls on the Rome Campus.

Science & Technology Building

The Science and Technology building houses labs for welding, heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, chemistry, metallurgy, electricity, metrology and machine tools. This building also includes an MIT-networked FABLab, which houses 3-D printers and other high-tech equipment.

Directions to Utica Campus

From the East or West

  • Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 31 (Utica).
  • After the toll booth, follow Route 790 to the North/South Arterial (Route 12).
  • Take Route 12 South to the Burrstone Road exit.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Burrstone Road.
  • Stay in the right lane on Burrstone Road and continue across Genesee Street.
  • You will be on Memorial Parkway East.
  • Follow Memorial Parkway approximately 3 miles.
  • At the intersection of Sherman Drive and Memorial Parkway, turn left.
  • MVCC will be on your right.
  • Turn right at the first traffic light into the visitor parking lot.

From the North

  • Follow Route 12 South into Utica.
  • Get off at the Burrstone Road exit.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Burrstone Road.
  • Stay in the right lane on Burrstone Road and continue across Genesee Street.
  • You will be on Memorial Parkway East.
  • Follow Memorial Parkway approximately 3 miles.
  • At the intersection of Sherman Drive and Memorial Parkway, turn left.
  • MVCC will be on your right.
  • Turn right at the first traffic light into the visitor parking lot.

From the South

  • Follow Route 12 North into Utica.
  • From the Southeast take Route 8 North to Route 12 North
  • From the Southwest take Route 12 North
  • Get off at the Burrstone Road exit.
  • At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Burrstone Road.
  • Stay in the right lane on Burrstone Road and continue across Genesee Street.
  • You will be on Memorial Parkway East.
  • Follow Memorial Parkway approximately 3 miles.
  • At the intersection of Sherman Drive and Memorial Parkway, turn left.
  • MVCC will be on your right.
  • Turn right at the first traffic light into the visitor parking lot.

From Rome Campus to Utica Campus

  • Depart Rome campus onto Bell Ave.
  • Take a left at the first light onto Floyd Ave.
  • Take a right at the first right onto Hill Road
  • Follow Hill Road, which turns into Route 825
  • Follow Route 825 through the traffic circles to the Route 49 East exit (toward Utica)
  • Merge onto Route 49
  • Merge onto NY-5W toward downtown Utica
  • Take the Burrstone Road ramp toward Utica College
  • Keep right at the fork to go onto Burrstone Road
  • Turn slight right onto Memorial Parkway
  • Turn Left at the light onto Schoolcraft Road
  • Turn slight left onto Sherman Drive
  • Turn Right into the campus driveway or follow the Utica Campus Map to the appropriate on-campus parking lot

Rome Campus

The Rome Branch Campus, located on Floyd Avenue and Bell Road in Rome, New York, consists of the John D. Plumley Science & Technology Complex and Rome Academic Buliding. The Rome Campus offers classrooms, laboratories and all services available to the Utica Campus complimenting our one college-one campus concept.

The Rome Campus also has a fully interactive Distance Learning Classroom connected to the Utica Campus. All of these functions are supported by computers which are connected to the mainframe on the Utica Campus, allowing for instantaneous feedback for students.

The Carpentry Masonry Program and the Hospitality Programs are housed at the Rome Campus.

Directions to Rome Campus

From MVCC Utica Campus (1101 Sherman Drive) To MVCC Rome Campus (1101 Floyd Ave.)

  • Depart the Utica Campus and turn RIGHT onto Sherman Drive
  • After approximately 1 mile turn RIGHT (North) onto Mohawk Street
  • After approximately 1.5 miles Turn LEFT (West) onto Broad Street
  • Bear LEFT (West) onto SR-5S (Oriskany Street E)
  • Take ramp (RIGHT) onto I-790 (SR-12) toward I-790/Route 5/Route 8/Route 12/I-90
  • Turn RIGHT onto ramp toward I-790/Route 5/Route 49/I 90/Rome
  • Keep LEFT to stay on ramp toward Route 49/Rome
  • After approx 10 miles take Route 365/Griffiss/E Dominick Street Exit off of Route 49
  • Bear left on the ramp toward Griffiss Tech Park
  • Keep straight on Wright Hill Road (Route 825) for approximately 1 mile (name changes to Hill Road)
  • Turn left onto Floyd Avenue
  • At first light, you will arrive at 1101 Floyd Ave., MVCC Rome Campus
  • Campus is immediately on your right on the corner of Floyd Avenue and Bell Road
  • Thruway (NTS 90) Directions to the Rome Campus (1101 Floyd Ave.)

From the East

  • Take Exit 32 (Westmoreland)
  • Turn right onto Route 233
  • Travel approximately 5 miles, then take a right on to Route 69
  • Go a short distance and take a left on to Route 365 toward the Griffiss Technology Park
  • Then take the Griffiss Technology Park Exit and stay straight on the ramp towards Griffiss Tech Park
  • Stay straight on Wright Hill Road (Route 825) for approximately 1 mile (name changes to Hill Road)
  • Drive way around the roundabout circle and continue straight
  • At the first light, turn left onto Floyd Avenue
  • At first light on Floyd Avenue, you will arrive 1101 Floyd Ave. MVCC's Rome Campus is immediately on your right on the corner of Floyd Avenue and Bell Road

From the West

  • Take Exit 33 (Verona)
  • Bear right onto Route 365 toward the Griffiss Technology Park Exit
  • Then take the Griffiss Technology Park Exit and stay straight on the ramp toward Griffiss Tech Park
  • Stay straight on Wright Hill Road (Route 825) for approximately 1 mile (name changes to Hill Road)
  • Drive way around the roundabout circle and continue straight
  • At the first light, turn left onto Floyd Avenue
  • At first light on Floyd Avenue, you will arrive 1101 Floyd Ave. MVCC's Rome Campus is immediately on your right on the corner of Floyd Avenue and Bell Road
