First Steps for Admitted Students

Step 1 -

After you have received your acceptance letter from the Admissions Office, be sure to read carefully all of the materials you receive from the college. Also, remember to return your Admissions Reservation Form that was included with your acceptance letter to let us know you plan on being a student here.

Step 2 -

Remember to fill out your Health Form and mail into the Student Health Center (315-792-5452) a copy of your immunization records!

Step 3 -

Begin checking your MVCC email account for more important information from the college.

Step 4 -

Any student who is requesting financial assistance will need to apply for financial aid and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online, including the section for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) which is the New York State financial aid program. You must also complete the MVCC Data Form through your SIRS Account.

Step 5 -

Those students who are interested in possibly living in on-campus housing should contact the Residential Life Office as soon as possible, as there are a limited number of available dorm rooms.

Step 6 -

All incoming students must take our placement test unless they can provide proof of earned college credits or AP scores in mathematics and/or English. Students cannot schedule classes without a placement test, so students should try to take it soon after they are admitted.

Step 7 -

After students have taken their placement test, they will be scheduled an appointment to meet individually with an advisor to discuss educational goals, go over placement test scores, and select courses for their first semester.

Step 8 -

At your advising appointment, the advisor will give students further information about:

  • Paying your bill and/or accepting your financial aid offer
  • Requesting a Certificate of Residency for those living outside of Oneida County
  • Completing required health and immunization records
  • Getting a student ID, parking permit, and books

Step 9 -

Plan to attend orientation.

Step 10 -

Go to class starting January 17th!
