- The one thing we wish people really know about our office/department is:
It all depends. When a transcript is received, the Registrar’s office attempts to process the credit using the information populated in the Transfer Articulation Tables. If the course (or school) is not built, the transcript it sent to the Coordinator of Transfer Services who send course descriptions to the Academic Center responsible for the course. When he hears back from the Academic Center, the information is put into the tables, and the transcript to sent back to the Registrar’s office for processing. A transcript is evaluated for the entire college, not just by major.
If the student is a new student to MVCC (first semester), the transcript does not start the process until the student submits the Admissions Reservation form. Once that form is submitted, the transcript begins in journey. If the student started prior to Spring 2012, their transcript was evaluated by a credit evaluator for their major.
Yes I can, however, there is a wonderful website that lists the majority of our equivalencies from schools all around the country! Visit: http://www.mvcc.edu/career-and-transfer-services/transfer-services/how-do-my-courses-transfer-to-mvcc
We are using College Central Network to post all student jobs and we are directing students to this site to look for jobs. The Student Employment Specialist helps to manage the Federal Work Study process with Financial Aid and Student Assistants are handled by each individual area and the budget money they have to support Student Assistants. You may post either all student employment positions on the College Central Network by going to the Career Services webpage or through this link. http://www.collegecentral.com/mvcc/
Establishing Transfer credit can take time as we are starting a new process. If you are a brand new student to MVCC, it depends on when you turned in your admissions reservation form. Turning that form in starts the process of establishing transfer credit. Once the Registrar receives I, they attempt to process the credit using the information populated in the Transfer Articulation Tables. If the course (or school) is not built, the transcript it sent to the Coordinator of Transfer Services who sends course descriptions to the Academic Center responsible for the course. When he hears back from the Academic Center, the information is put into the tables, and the transcript to send back to the Registrar’s office for processing. A transcript is evaluated for the entire college, not just by major.
Yes! Of course, there are some advantages to staying and getting an Associate’s degree before transferring!
There are forms that can be picked up from the Registrar’s office window. You will need the mailing address of the Admissions Office of the school you would like them sent to. Your first transcript is free; any additional transcript is $10.
All Federal Work Study jobs are posted on the College Central Network and can be accessed through this link. http://www.collegecentral.com/mvcc/. Student Assistant jobs are available through offices that have budget money to support the position.
That Transfer Services actually makes the call on how a course is transferred. The decision is solely up to the Academic Deans. I am just the go-between and create the tables.
We give students jobs.
We exist! While the message is getting out there, I am hearing from students that people are misguiding them in terms of transfer process, transfer credit etc.
