Center for Life & Health Sciences
Welcome to Life Science
Welcome to the Life Science component of the Center for Life and Health Sciences. The faculty in Life Sciences are able to offer you opportunities for transfer to public and private baccalaureate institutions in a variety of science-related programs. If you are interested in earning an Associate Degree before transferring, MVCC has the courses and opportunities which will allow you full junior status after completing one of our programs.
Our degree opportunities range from pre-professional (Pre-Medical, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Veterinary, Pre-Environmental Sciences, etc.) to biology, health-related sciences, nutrition, dietetics and geology, to name a few. The department has articulation agreements with all SUNY institutions and with some of the most prestigious four-year private institutions in New York State and in the country. Our laboratories are state-of-the-art and MVCC is one of only a few two-year colleges using cadavers in Human Anatomy and Physiology courses.
"I graduated from the Liberal Arts/Science (Biology) program in 1982 and immediately transferred to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. All of MVCC's credits transferred and thanks to the solid foundation I received while at MV, I graduated summa cum laude with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I immediately opened my own practice back home in Utica, New York where I remain today. I am the sole proprietor of LaBarbera Family Chiropractic, LLC and enjoy one of the largest practices in the upstate area. I specialize in corrective chiropractic care with an emphasis on neurological problems as well as family wellness and prevention. I owe my start to Mohawk Valley Community College and can assure you that beginning my education at MVCCFirst was a wise choice for me and it can be for you as well."
