MVCC to Offer Non-Credit Offerings in the Field of Real Estate

NYS Appraisal Licensing Courses
Have you ever wanted to become a Residential or Commercial Appraiser? MVCC is now offering you the chance with our Appraiser Qualifying Courses. To qualify to become an Appraiser Assistant or a Licensed Residential Appraiser in NYS, you must complete 150 hours of classroom training. Upon completion of all the classes below plus a USPAP Course, you will be prepared to complete the state exam to be a licensed appraiser and begin your career in this rewarding and exciting field. These courses are the starting point in a career as an appraiser and you can continue to grow toward the goal of becoming a NYS Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser or a NYS General Real Estate Appraiser.
The following classes will be offered:
NYS Appraiser: Basic Appraisal Principles
This course also counts for Continuing Education for Real Estate Salespersons & Brokers. Cost: $450 Thursday and Friday, March 7-15, 8:30-5:30 p.m., MVCC Educational Center
NYS Appraiser: Basic Appraisal Procedures
Cost: $450. Thursday and Friday, March 21-29, 8:30-5:30 p.m., MVCC Educational Center
NYS Appraiser: Basic Market Analysis & Highest/Best Use (R7)
Cost: $325. Thursday and Friday, April 4 & 5, 8:30-5 p.m., MVCC Educational Center
This course also counts for Continuing Education for Real Estate Salespersons & Brokers
NYS Appraiser: Residential Site Valuation & Cost Approach (R8)
Cost: $325. Thursday and Friday, April 11 & 12, 8:30-6 p.m., MVCC Educational Center
NYS Appraiser: Residential Sales Comparison & Income Approach (R9)
Thursday and Friday, April 18-26, 8:30-6 p.m. MVCC Educational Center – Cost: $450
NYS Appraiser: Residential Report Writing (R10)
Cost: $325. Thursday and Friday, May 2 & 3, 8:30-6 p.m. MVCC Educational Center
75 Hour Real Estate Pre-Licensing Course
This course will prepare you to sit for the New York State real estate salesperson’s examination. It satisfies the mandated 75 hour pre-licensing education requirements of the Department of State. Topics to be covered include license law and regulations; law of agency; deeds, leases, contracts, liens, and easements; estates and interests; real estate closings, financing, valuation and math; land use regulations and construction; and fair housing, human rights and environmental laws/issues. Fee includes textbook. Cost: $549
Monday/Wednesday/Thursday, January 28 – March 25, 6-9 p.m., Utica.
Monday/Wednesday/Thursday, April 8 – June 3, -9 p.m., Utica.
NYS Approved Home Inspector Licensing Course
Home Inspection is defined as the process by which a home inspector observes and provides a written report of the systems and components of a residential building including but not limited to): Heating System, Cooling System, Plumbing System, Electrical System, and Structural Components - foundation, roof masonry structure, exterior and interior components, etc. Home inspectors are required to complete 24 hours of approved continuing education within their two-year license renewal period prior to the expiration date in order to renew their license.
This course consists of 140 hours of training, the first 100 in the classroom, followed by 40 hours of hands on work in the field to do mock home inspections with a qualified instructor. Tuition includes all necessary books and materials. Cost: $2600

All MVCC non-credit instruction is completely self-supporting, including indirect costs, and requires no public funding.
