Mohawk Valley Community College will continue to offer a wide variety of non-credit adult aquatic classes this spring through the College’s Center for Corporate and Community Education. Classes will be held at the MVCC Utica campus pool, 1101 Sherman Drive. Choose from Water Aerobics, Water Running, and Fitness Swim classes. New this semester – two 10-week sessions of Lane and Lap Lovers, Water Aerobics, and Water Running!
Water Aerobics: This shallow water exercise, set to music, can help you lose inches while toning and strengthening all of the body’s major muscle groups. Choose from Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday mornings from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. and 11 a.m.- Noon., Monday evenings from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m. (no second session), or Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. The first 10-week session begins the week of Jan. 28 and the cost is $55. Water Running: Participants of all abilities wear a flotation belt to enhance the effect of running combined with a variety of exercises to achieve a great overall workout. Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday mornings from 10 a.m-11 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m.- 6 p.m. The first 10-week session begins the week of Jan. 28 and the cost is $55. Lane and Lap Lovers Swim: This fitness swimming class offers a fantastic aerobic workout and is perfect for cross-training. Students can swim at their own pace and in their own space. Class runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:15 a.m.- 9 a.m. The first 10-week session begins the week on Jan. 28 and the cost is $65. The second 10-week session begins the week of April 15.
Competitive Lap and Fitness Swim: Participants who want to stay in shape for the off season will receive instruction in competitive swim strokes, turns, starts and then swim laps on their own. The class will be held Tuesdays, Jan. 29-April 2, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $60.
Beginning Swim for Adults: This program is for adults and teens who would like to learn the basic fundamentals of swimming and/or conquer a fear of the water. The class will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 31-April 4, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $70
Advanced Beginning Swim for Adults: Students will increase their aquatic abilities by adding to skills learned in the beginning course, including the front crawl and backstroke. The class runs Thursdays, Jan. 31-April 4, from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. The cost is $70.
Intermediate Swim for Adults: This program is for adults and teens that can swim independently and want to refine their strokes and learn other advanced water safety skills. The class runs Tuesdays, Jan. 29-April 2, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $70.
